I wake up seeing stars in my eyes or weird black or red dots. comprehensive ophthalmologist said eyes are ok after examination and blames it on untreated obstructive sleep apnea. also taking 40mg valsartan. bp at rest 110/70. should i get more tests?

If there is suspicion of sleep apnea, an overnight sleep study to confirm should be accomplished. This is a condition not to be ignored, as complications can be troublesome indeed, and treatment is usually quite successful

Didn't the ophthalmologist mention the possibility of harmless vitreous floaters as a cause? . I think many people without obstructive sleep apnea have this symptom upon awakening. However, I must say that the ones I knew were all older people and I assume this makes a difference.
