The pathologic association between these 2 organs is vast. Give example, patient with viral hepatitis B or C may cause kidney disease or liver cirrhosis can cause acute kidney injury. Specific treatment varies according to the etiology. If you truly have both liver and kidney problems, your medical care should be coordinated between your family doctor, a hepatologist and a nephrologist.
