A member asked:

For the past few months, i've been having pain in a molar when biting down on hard things (no pain on release). i've visited 3 different dentists, all of them said the tooth is fine with no crack/decay/etc. should i consult an endodontist instead?

Did your three dentists test the tooth for vitality? Does the tooth have large restorations? Is it sensitive to cold or sweets or just when biting down? Do you have allergies or have you been suffering from sinusitis? Posterior maxillary tooth pain can often be attributed to sinus issues, but consulting an endodontist is not a bad idea.

An Endodontist has at least 5,000 hours of Endodontic Residency training above and beyond that received while in Dental School, and limits this/her practice to solving problems just like yours. An Endodontist has additional equipment such as an Endodontics microscope and a cone beam CT scanner to aid in diagnosis. Yes, please see a specialist Endodontist. Your symptoms suggest a fracture.
