I had my first ultrasound today and all they were able to see if the gestational sac. i'm 5 weeks and 5 days. is this normal at this stage to only see the sac?

At "5w 5d" gestational age, it is possible to not yet have definition of fetal heart activity. A repeat in 10 days should definitely see other than only the gestational sac, if indeed the dates are accurate.
