What did your OB say: Your OB should ahve told you that was normal! you will need a followup us because you should be able to see a ht beat at approx 6 1/2 weeks.

Yes: 5 weeks is too early to see the embryo clearly or to see a heartbeat, but a yolk sac should be seen. You will need a follow up ultrasound to confirm that the pregnancy is healthy. We like to see a heartbeat at 6-7 weeks with transvaginal ultrasound.
