A member asked:

Hello, i have lupus as we all as recurring pericarditis. the treatment plan would be kineret for the pericarditis, plaquenil for lupus as well as a low-dose steroid. is this a bit much or does it seem adequate?

This is a problem you want the best advice on. i would go to the nearest Medical School and ask to be seen in their Lupus clinic if you have not. It you have done this follow their advice as they know you and we do not.

Discuss your concern with your rheumatologist and/or your collaborating cardiologist. Kineret is approved for treating recurrent pericarditis. Plaquenil and low dose.steroids also are reasonable choices to treat lupus as well. The proof would be control of your symptoms without unpleasant side effects.
