A member asked:

High calprotectin (2900) but colonoscopy was perfect! dr. is stumped! negative for bacteria/virus/blood/h pylori. what else could it be? celiacs? sibo? something higher up? gastritis? liver? still having upper abdominal pain, loose stool/constipati?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Was an upper endoscopy also performed? Was the colonoscopy performed while the fecal calprotectin level was so high or sometime later when inflammatory bowel disease was in a quiescent stage? Some of your symptoms suggest irritable bowel syndrome but the markedly high calprotectin level is very suspicious of inflammatory bowel disease. Repeat calprotectin level still high?
