If done by a reputable lab they are trustworthy. No test is 100%. But as close to it as possible.

It would be prudent to repeat the test 6 weeks after exposure. HIV is only one of the STDs. A condom may not protect against HPV, Herpes, LGV, syphilis, pubic lice etc. It would be prudent to see your doctor for an evaluation.
