I have to get teeth pulled. my father had malignant hyperthermia. im an anxious wreck. will novocaine or lidocaine cause this? i read stress was common during the event so thats great! thanks?

There are a limited number of medications that can trigger this genetic condition. None are in routine use for simple dental extractions. Novacaine and lidocaine are not listed in this group. I would let the dentist know your history but would relax for now. There are ways to test to see if you have the gene that makes you at risk of MH that you could discuss with your doc.
