A member asked:

I'm 19 and just woke up with a sharp pain in the right side of my chest. after a while it subsided and is now a sort of tightness. breathing doesn't make the pain worse and the pain was in my chest and a little in my shoulder. should i be worried?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Such sharp right sided chest pain unaffected by a deep breath, with no shortness of breath or cough doesn't appear to be of cardiac or lung origin. I suspect a rib cage cause such as muscle spasm. At this time I would merely observe and look for continued improvement of chest, shoulder discomfort. See your physician as needed.
