Most prescribed sleeping pills are not nephrotoxic but taking sleeping pill every night is not a good idea. Both benadryl and melatonin are the common meds for insomnia but they are not always effective. Behavior therapy and sleep hygiene are the best treatments. Avoid daytime nap, keep yourself busy all days (mind and body), go to bed the same time, no toss and turn & do deep breathing technique.
