A member asked:

I have optic neuritis and was diagnosed with cis, if i have another episode of optic neuritis if it likely related to the first cis or a potential progression to ms?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Optic neuritis is a rather common initial event in MS, and your diagnosis of "CIS" suggests that, currently, you do not meet the criteria for "clinically definite MS". Another episode of abnormal neurological function would likely confirm your diagnosis. Many USA doctors do treat their patients with disease modifying therapies if CIS is present to slow or prevent conversion. Discuss this.
