I'm 50. still have periods, although less regularly. fsh in meno range but est high. when i say to my gyn that i'm in peri, she keeps saying, "but your fsh is in meno range." why would she be so hung up on this and not admit that i'm in peri? odd?

I cannot read your Drs mind from here. Discuss with her. You Menopause is a complex time of several hormones changing. I would go to uptodate.com and spend some & and read all about it. Then you will be better informed to discuss with Dr.
