One doctor on this website said that most people's immune system clear the contagious stage of hpv within 2 years, but it's potential to cause cancer is lifelong. is that really true? can we never really be cancer risk free from hpv?

It is not the HIV itself but the lowering of immunity which can cause cancer and not enough longterm studies exist to make any certain statements.

Most people do clear HPV. You should get HPV vaccine which is effective against the common cancer causing strains of HPV.
