A member asked:

I'm on bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) and i was told to avoid excessive sunlight. what does that mean? do i have to avoid the sun at all costs or wear sunblock every day (even when i'm inside)? how common is photosensitivity?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It means you will get sunburned or get a rash if you are exposed to the sun. Please wear protection and sunscreen if you do. Degree and frequency of sensitivity varies with persons. You are safe out of sunlight.
