A member asked:

Hello. is a balloon sinuplasty safe? i am getting it thursday, and very nervous. brain injury? smell? etc?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Since outcomes and adverse effects may be secondary to experience and skill of surgeon, it is appropriate to inquire about outcomes, and to talk to one or two former patients regarding their experiences. Have not seen prior brain injuries associated with sinus surgery, and loss of sense of smell is transient at most.
