First see your physician for evaluation to determine that it's uncomplicated essential hypertension. You'll most likely require 2 or 3 medications to bring your BP to a goal of 130/80 or less if lifestyle changes weren't enough. Many of us would start with an ACE inhibitor like lisinopril combined with a low dose of a longacting diuretic like hydrochlorothazide & later add on other med if needed
