It is not an allergy within the eustacian tube that causes dysfunction. Allergies affect the nasopharynx, to which the eustacian tube is connected. When this tissue swells it can result in fluid within the eustacian tube because of poor drainage. The fluid within the tube can cause pressure on the hearing apparatus in the middle ear, causing tinnitus. try a decongestant and/or saline nasal washes.
