If you're taking cefuroxime orally it requires stomach acid for proper absorption & effective blood levels It would be best if you could avoid all stomach acid suppressing meds like omeprazole or pepcid. Only use antacids or milk as needed or take carafate according to instructions. but not until 2 hours after taking cefuroxime. Careful diet,no caffeine or alcohol are important

Proton pump inhibitor or histamine 2 blocker drugs used for GERD such as prilosec or famotidine (pepcid) reduce stomach acid which can decrease the absorption and blood levels of cefuroxime and make the abx less effective against infections. You should temporarily use antacid like Mylanta which can be used 2 hours after taking Cefuroxime & in between then it won't change the antibiotic absorption.
