How to remove black heads from face ?

8 doctors weighed in across 4 answers

Facial/extractions : Blackheads are open pores filled with debris including skin cells, makeup and oils. Regular cleansing, exfoliating, and good skin care can decrease their appearance, but cannot cure them. Facials and extractions by a licensed professional can at least temporarily rive the blackheads.

Black heads : Blackheads are best removed by a combination of prescribed tretinoin cream or gel and comedone extraction performed by a skin care specialist.

Comedone Extractor: Wash face w gentle cleanser 2x/day & use oil free products. No oily hair or heavy foundations. Exfoliate occasionally. Try not to pop pimples. Avoid touching face (cradling chin in hands). Remove makeup before bed. Shower after strenuous exercise. Consider otc products (salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide). If > mild acne see dermatology (discuss meds, comedone extractor, pore strips, etc.).

Acne : There are some over the counter medications and facial scrubs that can aid with it, and a dermatologist can prescribe medications to control them too.
