A member asked:

Is it possible to manipulate how fast my body breaks down medicine? ex: ive read that the body gets rid of levetiracetam through the kidneys, so if i drink more water and pee more often - making my kidneys work more, will it metabolise faster?

Medications are metabolized through a complex process that both involve protein enzymes and transport proteins in the gut, kidney, and liver. Some drugs interact with other drugs to alter this process, increasing or decreasing the levels, sometimes harmfully. Your prescribing provider can order a Keppra level to see if you are at a therapeutic level

Metabolizing means the product is broken down and then those products are gotten rid of the body by various means. Your actions may hasten the process slightly
