I tested positive for syphilis rpr. hiv was indeterminate but was told it was positive. my long time partner tested and everything came back normal. nothing has changed. i am faithful in my monogamous relationship. should i go somewhere for testing?

If you were positive for Syphilis there is a possibility that you acquired it in a previous relationship. Please get retested for both and if you have not taken precautions have your present partner retested to make sure. Hope both of you do well.

You definitely need more testing ASAP. Most people with indeterminate HIV test results do NOT have HIV, but you need additional testing to be certain. RPR often gives false positive results, so you do not necessarily have syphilis. Here too, you need additional testing to know. A local public health clinic or infectious disease specialist would be great, but most doctors can order the right tests.
