A member asked:

I am seriously considering getting a tattoo directly on my birthmark. it has been the same since birth and is about the size of my pointer fingernail. it is circular and, as far as i know, completely benign. i am hoping to get another opinion?

Your birthmark is your identifying tattoo only unique to you, keep it for good luck. If you need to get a tattoo put it where it is visible to you or hide it for special occasions..

It might be the same opinion, but birthmarks are valued in many cultures as genetic imprints. On the skin they represent most of the time vascular or pigmentation benign changes. The most important question is what are you trying to do by covering such a piece of skin, which is a very important organ, with chemicals organized in the form of a message.
