A member asked:

Is it safe to remove moles with your fingernails? my sister(almost 17) does it and a non birthmark mole she removed turned a light brown color.

No: The chances of infection and unsightly scarring would be greatly increased. Go to a plastic surgeon or dermatologist to have this done.

Don't pick at moles: Injury to a mole can make the mole change and changing moles need to be excised. You need to let your sister know this as well so that both of you don't pick at moles.
