Sounds like your head injury resulted in a scalp hematoma ("goose egg"), which will maximize in size at about 36-48 hrs., and gradually decline over the next 10-14 days. The tenderness could be more persistent, as in some cases, can last for months, and may be associated with local tension headaches.
