A positive or elevated D-dimer test result may indicate that you have a blood clotting condition, but it DOESN’T GUARANTEE that you have one. A D-dimer test can't reveal what type of clotting condition you have or where the clot is located in your body. This test is just one of the initial steps in the diagnosis and further tests need to be done based on your symptoms and exam findings.

Why did you take the test? Depending on the normal range of your lab, your result may well be well within the normal range. Talk to the doctor who ordered the test.
