Yes: Certain tests can certainly be affected by the age of the blood. Blood needs to be properly spun down and stored to accommodate specific requirements for certain tests. Most commonly though, the lab will alert the ordering provider that the specimen was not properly cared for and the test could not be run, or the specimen was "hemolyzed" and "caution interpreting the results, etc." good luck.
