Hemoglobin is up to 12.5 from 10, but tibc is still high at 463, uibc is still high at 424. iron saturation has dropped from 14 to 8. ferritin has dropped from 15 to 14. my doc wants to wait another 3 months and test again. taking iron for 9 month?

It would be helpful to know what your iron tests looked like before you started taking iron 9 months ago. Based on those labs, you are still mildly iron deficient. Your body is compensating well enough by making new red blood cells (Hgb up to 12.5), but you would benefit from continued iron use. And more importantly, any ongoing sources of bloodloss must be ruled out by your PCP.

That your hemoglobin having gone up to normal range is good. I agree with your doctor to check the other values in a few months while you continue to take iron and multivitamins. Wish you good health!
