1 year old with cough, congestion, runny/stuffy nose for a month with no improvement. trouble sleeping because of coughing. what to do?

Have the kid seen. I accept common colds that last up to 2 weeks. When a month has passed with continued problems I look for other treatable conditions including mild asthma.

A chronic cough and congestion is usually caused by an infection or allergic reaction/asthma. GERD may also lead to cough and nasal congestion. Monitor temperature, breathing and watch for shortness of breath and wheezing. Discuss whether a course of antibiotics is indicated. The nature of the cough and whether the cough worsens with sleep would be helpful.
