Aspiration, reflux: Many things can cause long-term cough and congestion in a one-year old, most relate to inhaling (aspirating) what they eat. What you describe should be discussed with your doctor as they could lead to pneumonia. Be sure your son doesn't get a bottle or cup propped in bed at night. Your doctor is likely to want to check out his swallowing and possible acid reflux. Allergies aren't too likely.
