I got a backpack inside my mouth for around 10 seconds. the backpack had been on a public sidewalk and a carpet of a room that was smoked in. the backpack also had dust on. will this cause me long-term harm or short term sickness?

The risk is negligible if your mouth is intact , i.e. no open wound.

Your mouth has saliva that contains many microbes and acids that would neutralize most bacteria. IF there was no fresh blood on the backpack or open wounds in your mouth or bleeding gums than you should have no concerns.
