A member asked:

Can household dust and carpets cause eczema?

A doctor has provided 1 answer
Dr. John Chiu answered

Yes: The dust mite body and droppings are major sensitizers . People with eczema has an impaired skin barrier allowing the dust mite products (as well as other allergens) to pass through the skin leading to allergic sensitization and worsening of the eczema. Perhaps a better term would be "triggered" instead of "caused" since the basic problem is the defective skin surface.
