I have had upper back pain for almost a year now.i had a bad fall prior to all of this. it is a burning feeling on left side .ive had an x-ray and nothing showed.the pain is off and on.what could it be if xrays showed nothing?

A plain X-ray gives you very limited info. The best study will be a MRI or at least a CT scan of the cervicothoracic spines which may explain your symptom.
