A member asked:

Had electromyography test showed delay sending elec signals to leg muscles & mri non specific white matters. based on tests & exams told is ms & given tecfidera. is the med safe? other cond is been rolled out?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nonspecific MRI findings do not confirm MS unless the images are c/w McDonald criteria. Tecfidera is usually safe but can cause nausea and vomiting, and flushing. PML infection is rare. Talk with doc about EMG results, as this study would be looking for peripheral nerve problems, not an evaluation for brain or spinal cord.
