A member asked:

M.christmas, based on brain mri nonspecific foci of t2/flair white matter, vocal cord paralysis and upper airway res syn and ms symptoms i was given tecfidera, is this medication safe to stay on for a long time?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Several issues: Vocal cord paralysis would not be caused by MS, and nonspecific white matter changes are NOT supportive of an MS diagnosis. MS does not directly afflict the lung. Is there something missing here, as otherwise, I cannot support this diagnosis. If Tecfidera is justified, currently recommending Vumerity due to far less GI adverse events. (same immune effects as Tec.)
