A member asked:

Last august, my a1c was 6.0. working with a dietitian, i have changed diet, exercise and lost weight. a1c is still 6.0. began monitoring glucose and readings arent high. could my a1c be a false reading of something other than high glucose?

It is now April, so it's 8 months away from August. Normally if the average glucose level improved you should have seen an improvement in A1c. congratulations on losing excess weight and exercising. The A1c can be affected by red blood cell turnover, but not likely different in 8 months. So, do you have a deficiency in insulin or sensitivity to insulin, or was your diet more carb heavier?

You may wish to consult an endocrinologist as you may need medication to prevent further deterioration in your A1c. Visit this site for info: https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/a1c-test/about/pac-20384643
