A member asked:

Very good evening doctors. if a prostate biopsy shows prostate cancer, but i do not have symptoms of prostate cancer, would i need a prostatectomy? is there a less invasive approach to treat asymptomatic prostate cancer before having prostatectomy?

This is not a simple informational question that can be answered on this site, as all patients' complexities have to be considered in a situation such as yours. Recommend a second, or third, urology consultation, and decide, with your family, what is the best pathway to pursue.

Good evening. Early prostate cancer causes no symptoms. The treatments depend on the biopsy report. extent of the cancer, patients age and co-morbidities and include surgery (robotic or open) radiation (conventional or seed implantation) cryo-surgery and hormones. It is best you sit down with your Urologist and discuss your choices with pros and cons. Good luck.
