Digestion of liquids can occur over 30 min to 1 hour. If he threw up before this time frame, then there is a chance that the caffeine left in his stomach is minimal. If not he needs to be evaluated in the Emergency Department for side effects. Caffeine toxicity can manifest as racing heart, shortness of breath, elevated blood pressure, headache and in worse case scenario hear arrhythmias.
