I wonder about the "ionic calcium" you are talking about because calcium is a cation and there is no "ionic calcium" per my knowledge. The whatever the source of calcium you take, if you take more than what your body can handle, mainly by excreting the extra in the urine, hypercalcemia (high calcium level in the blood) which can cause vessel and tissue calcification as I answered previously.
