It is difficult to tell. The only way to tell for each patient is to count the heart rate after 2 weeks of usage for comparison.

I agree with Dr. Le as both of these beta blockers are cardioselective & lower heart rates significantly. I'm not a fan of using them first line in the treatment of hypertension but are suitable for cardioprotection in someone with history of rapid resting heart rates, coronary artery disease or ischemic stroke.
