Cardiologist switched me from metropolol 12.5 once daily to coreg (carvedilol) 3.125 twice daily to see if the metr.was cause of shallow breathing..is coreg (carvedilol) safe?

Yes but: All drugs have some side effects uniquely their own. Coreg (carvedilol) is very similar to metopolol in being a beta blocker but having additional Alpha 2 action as well. You will need to trust your cardiologiston this.
