“Crocodile tears syndrome,” also known as Bogorad syndrome, is the shedding of tears while eating or drinking in patients recovering from Bell’s Palsy. It only affects one eye which is not in the case of your mom. I think she has problem with bilateral tear ducts along with increased tear production with smell during eating, almost comparable to people who have runny nose or sweating during meal.
