I have mets to my bones. i've got severe anemia from it. my hemoglobin is 7.7. my dr just gave me my first shot of aranesp. they won't give a transfusion until my hemoglobin is under 7. does aranesp work and when? no strength to walk?

Aranesp works by stimulating your bone marrow to produce more red cells. If it is effective it will take time, at least a month or more before your Hb is up. Aranesp works the best for chronic kidney disease related anemia, not quite effective in certain types of cancer and Aranesp is sometimes contraindicated in cases of solid cancer. You will likely need blood transfusion. Please take care.
