Squeezing of pimples can cause trauma to the localized area, internal bursting of the infected follicle and localized infections. Most of the time, these are resolved with no treatment. If you notice the swelling expanding outwardly from the lesion as red raised painful skin, then cellulitis may need to be treated with antibiotics. Use ice and witch hazel to reduce swelling.
