Bells: Medications for bell's palsy usually only expedite recovery and improve the baseline amount of regeneration. The treatments are 1) Prednisone (a corticosteroid that usually is safe in pregnancy, but ask the ob) and 2) sometime acyclovir, category b pregnancy which is thought to be safe without risk in 2-3rd trimester. Usually: Bells palsy causes a swelling of the facial nerve in its canal. Depending upon the length of time and the resistance of the patient, recovery can take place up to six months in most cases. No medication appears to be useful and no supplements either.
