A member asked:

Can gerd cause a feeling of something stuck in your throat that gets worse when drinking liquids? even water and warm tea make the sensation of "a lump" worse for a few minutes until swallowing a few times?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

GERD can possibly cause this if there is some scar tissue present, but it could be a problem with the esophagus muscles, or a growth causing some obstruction. If you smoke you definitely need to have upper GI scope or barium swallow; if not you can try a few weeks of daily acid blocker (famotidine, omeprazole, pantoprazole) & avoid irritating substances but see Dr if no change or if worse
