I just discovered a tiny white lump under the skin in my left lobe. it hurts to touch. is it just a cyst or herpes simplex virus? i do get cold sores so i'm little worried it some how got to my ear ?

This doesn't sound like herpes, which does not cause lumps under the skin.

It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It could be an inflam]med hair follicle or an inflamed lymph node. You may try warm fomentation. Do not try to pop it. It would be prudent to see a doctor. Wish you good health!
