Positive HSV2 blood test may not be reliable. Only high index values (3.0 or more) are conclusive; if lower, it needs confirmation with other tests. But if confirmed positive, HIV risk if sexually exposed is about doubled, even if no visible outbreaks. Double risk usually doesn't mean much. If lifetime HIV risk is say 1 in a million, with HSV2 it's 1 in 500,000, still very low. Use condoms!
