Possible: If there were injury to the lining of your mouth and semen or blood infected with HIV came in contact with an open area of the lining of the mouth, virus could enter the bloodstream.

Get checked: Is sore throat the only symptom? Any flu-like aches and fatigue also? While an isolated sore throat is probably due to something else, even possibly something unrelated to your recent sexual episode, it's possible to have picked up HIV infection - as well as other STDs - during that episode. You want to get a thorough evaluation including screening for all STDs. Hope that helps.

Possibly other...: Do you see any sores in your mouth besides sore throat. It could be also another STD besides HIV. Try to get seen ASAP in order to rule out other types of infections. Herpes, chlamydia, gonorrhea for example can also affect your oral and pharyngeal areas.
