Viral relief: A number of things may explain it. If you have considerable work stress and do not go to work when you have a cold, the relief of not being there could diminish any nervous tension that promotes panic. Also, do you routinely take meds for your cold? Antihistamines and decongestants(rare) relieve anxiety - sometimes prescribed for it. Maybe you alter your breathing subconsciously? Yoga, meditate.
